The story of Christmas in PILAR began in 2005, bringing light to the celebration of the birth of our Almighty Savior. This occasion brought joy to many. The twinkling lights illuminated the trees in Cursam Park, homes, establishments, and streets in Poblacion, extending to its connecting roads. In the Municipality, everyone participated—families and barangay residents decorated large lanterns, Christmas trees, and Nativity displays. Competitions were also held to add excitement and showcase the skills of every Pilareño in expressing their creativity.
The town continues this tradition of “Lights of Revival,” an enduring chapter that started last year under the Maragtas initiative, further strengthened in collaboration with the community, schools, and the Province of Capiz. To this day, the entire province unites in supporting this endeavor.
The stunning spectacle begins along the roads of Barangays San Nicolas, Sta. Fe, San Esteban, San Blas, Natividad, Poblacion, Rosario, Cayus, San Fernando, and Dulangan. These barangays worked together to erect posts for the lanterns. The lanterns along the roads were carefully crafted by teachers and schools in Pilar.
The lanterns, glowing in golden hues, symbolize enlightenment and hope for the mind and heart, guiding the way to the Holy Trinity Parish Church. In the town park, a large Nativity display symbolizes strong and perfect love for family, especially for this community. There are lights and decorated trees made possible by organizations, agencies, groups, and establishments in the town.
Along Rizal Street, large lanterns made by barangays such as Sinamongan, San Pedro, San Antonio, Dayhagan, Balogo, Casanayan, San Ramon, Binaobawan, Monteflor, Blasco, Yating, Olalo, San Silvestre, and Tabun-acan create a festive atmosphere. The well-designed lights adorning the Municipal Hall exude the spirit of joy to the people and enhance the beauty of the surroundings for photography enthusiasts.
Additionally, there are performances by groups from different barangay clusters to bring happiness to all. This activity symbolizes a “Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year!”
