    Brief Description

The Maragtas: Christmas Village (Paskwa sa Banwa sang Ivisan) is a celebration rooted in Buyloganay—the Ivisanon value of unity and cooperation for the common good. This spirit is at the heart of Ivisan’s Christmas Village, blending local culture with the festive warmth of the Yuletide season.

The village showcases symbolic structures like the giant Christmas Tree, Carabao with Carroza, Belen, and Bahay Kubo, all crafted from indigenous materials. These represent the town’s resilience, unity, and faith. Traditional farming practices—Gili-ukan and Tinumpi—highlight the communal effort during harvest, where families work and celebrate together, embodying Buyloganay in action.

Ivisan’s diverse landscapes—upland, lowland, and coastal—are reflected throughout the village. The upland area features bamboo huts (Bahay Kubo) adorned with lights, telling stories of heritage and cooperation. In contrast, the coastal village bursts with sea-inspired decor: festive lights, parols shaped like sea creatures, and displays like the Balay sa Dagat (stilt house) and Arongan (fishing trap). These are decorated with seashells and reflect Ivisan’s rich marine life and fishing traditions.

A bamboo Belen with Filipino flair ties the inland and coastal displays together, symbolizing unity, faith, and sustainability. Altogether, the Christmas Village not only celebrates Ivisan’s natural and cultural wealth, but also honors the deep-rooted community spirit that defines the Ivisanon way of life.
