    Brief Description

This Christmas season, the Maayon Christmas Village is set to enchant visitors with a festive celebration that captures the true spirit of Christmas. At its heart is the Nativity Scene, reminding everyone of the season's real reason—Jesus Christ.

The Paskwa sa Dao is commenced with a breathtaking fireworks display. The explosive bursts of light aren't merely entertainment, they symbolize our community's strength, our ability to overcome challenges and our shared spirit of resilience. For the Daonhons, this annual display is a cherished tradition, a time for families and friends to gather and marvel at the beauty of the night sky, a shared experience that binds us together.

At the village stands a magnificent Christmas tree, a symbol of hope and new beginnings. But this isn't just any Christmas tree, it's a towering structure crafted from parols, the iconic Filipino lanterns that illuminate the Christmas season. The white lights chosen for this unique tree represent purity, honesty, cleanliness and the promise of a fresh start, values we hope to instill in the younger generation. The parol itself, reminiscent of the Star of Bethlehem, holds deep spiritual significance for Filipino Christians.

Our celebration also reflects the blend of cultures that have shaped our identity. The inclusion of Santa Claus, a figure deeply ingrained in our childhood memories, symbolizes the spirit of giving and joy. For the Daonhons, Santa Claus represents "Pagka Maalwan”, the value of generosity, a virtue we strive to pass on to future generations, reminding everyone that Christmas is about sharing and not just receiving.

Complementing the festive atmosphere is a belen, a nativity scene representing the birth of Christ. However, our belen is uniquely Dao, featuring a bamboo frame. Bamboo, a symbol of strength, resilience and longevity in Filipino culture, reflects the enduring spirit of the Daonhon people who have weathered countless storms and continue to stand tall.

Paskwa sa Dao isn't just about lights and symbols, it's a celebration of our culture and our talented individuals. Tribu Patik, a local group representing the vibrant energy of our youth, will fill the village with the infectious rhythm of drums and lyres. Our "Paskwalicious Dine and Chill Food Festival" showcases the culinary treasures of Dao, particularly our beloved balut, a local delicacy enjoyed by many after the Simbang Gabi. This festival provides a platform to support our local businesses and foster community growth. The inclusion of pinwheels, a simple yet cherished childhood toy adds a touch of nostalgia and optimism symbolizing innocence and the simple joys of life.

Above all, Paskwa sa Dao culminates in Simbang Gabi, the dawn masses held in preparation for Christmas. For Daonhonss, Simbang Gabi is more than just a religious observance, it's a powerful expression of faith and devotion, a time for reflection, prayer, and strengthening community bonds. The nine days of dawn masses are a testament to our unwavering faith and a cherished tradition that brings families and friends together. The sense of community and shared faith is palpable, creating a powerful spiritual experience.

Paskwa sa Dao is a testament to the spirit of Christmas in Dao – a blend of faith, tradition, community and family. It’s a time for reflection, celebration and the reaffirmation of our shared values. The warm, inviting lights, the festive decorations, and the joyous atmosphere all contribute to a truly unforgettable Christmas experience. It is a celebration of who we are as Daonhons, a celebration of our heritage and a celebration of the hope and joy of the Christmas season.
