TOlotayan Island: A Legendary Seaside Escape

Discover the rustic and legendary beauty of Olotayan Island, the only island barangay of Roxas City. Just a short boat ride from the mainland, this island offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle, inviting you to experience a simpler, more relaxed way of life.

Steeped in local folklore, the island's name is said to come from "olo" (head) and "tyan" (stomach), parts of a giant whose body was scattered across the sea, forming the various islands that dot the coast. Today, Olotayan is known not for giants, but for its unique and beautiful beaches. Instead of fine sand, its shores are covered in "cascaho," or tiny, smooth sea shells, which keep the surrounding waters remarkably clear and perfect for swimming.

Olotayan is a sanctuary for those looking to disconnect. With limited electricity and a beautifully rugged landscape, it's the ideal place to enjoy the basics: fresh seafood, stunning sunsets, and the warm hospitality of the local community. For an authentic island experience rich with legend and natural charm, Olotayan is a truly unforgettable destination.
